Our story

Belgium. Since 1978.

Belgian craft for the rooms that matter most.

approach

World-Class Craftsmanship. Specified for Care.

For decades, healthcare and senior living seating has been chosen from a catalogue. Fixed models, limited fabrics, standard lead times, and always a clear separation between what is clinical and what is designed.

We draw that line differently.

Mobilya is a California-based company bringing Belgian seating to healthcare and senior living environments. Every chair is built to order in our Belgian workshop, to your exact specification, in your fabric, leather, or COM, for your space. No inventory shortcuts. No compromises on fit.

We believe the chairs people sit in every day — whether at home, in care, or in treatment — deserve the same design thinking applied to the finest residential and hospitality interiors. Clean lines. Lasting comfort. Materials that hold up to clinical demands without looking like they had to.

Belgian craftsmanship has shaped some of the world's most refined seating for generations. We bring that standard to the rooms that heal, restore, and welcome, without compromising on clinical compliance, cleanability, or cost. Built to order. Built to last.

The workshop

Every chair. One Workshop. Belgian Craftsmanship.

Our Belgian workshop has been producing precision upholstered seating for more than four decades. Every Mobilya chair is cut, stitched, assembled, and finished there — using hardwoods, high-density foams, upholstery sourced from five European mills, and precision motor systems.

Nothing is outsourced. Frames are built in-house, not shipped in. The entire process happens under one roof, on a single floor.

The relationship runs through our co-founder’, Alvin Hellemans' family -- a twenty-plus-year partnership with the same craftsmen and the same quality protocol. A family-run logistics company handles every shipment: packing, coordinating, and delivering each chair with the same care it was built with. One workshop. One supply chain. One family standing behind both.

What we believe

Four principles behind every chair.

01

Configured to Order. Exactly as Specified

Every chair is specified before it is built. Chair family, size, motor configuration, upholstery selection — each detail confirmed on a spec sheet before production begins. What you specify is what gets built.

02

Built in Belgium. As It Has Been Since 1978.

Every Mobilya chair is built on the same floor in Belgium where production began over four decades ago — same craft, same          commitment, same workshop floor since 1978.

03

Your Order Starts Production.

We carry no standing inventory. The moment your specification is confirmed, production begins. Every chair ships within 10 to 14 weeks — with phased scheduling available for multi-unit projects..

04

Clinical Requirements. By Design.

Every product is engineered for healthcare and senior living from the specification up — meeting clinical compliance, cleanability, and durability standards as a baseline, not afterthought.
